Bench Stones

Hall's uses 100% natural Arkansas stones mined from the Novaculite quarries located in the National Ouachita Forest. Hall's carefully cuts to size and skillfully finishes the stones to ensure flatness. All Hall's bench stones are 1" thick x 2" wide, which provides an elevated work surface for ease of use. Novaculite, highly regarded by craftsmen worldwide, has a unique crystal structure which allows it to polish the cutting edge as it sharpens. All Hall's sharpening stones come with a custom wooden box for storage. You should also make sure that you clean and lubricate your bench stones, pocket stones and all your sharpening stones with honing oil.

Soft Arkansas is the most popular of the four grades of Novaculite. It is an all-purpose stone used by wood carvers, sportsmen, butchers, commercial knife sharpeners and even housewives who desire keen, polished edges on knives and tools in a minimum of time. All stones are 2" wide x 1" thick, which provides an elevated work surface for ease of use, and come with a custom wooden box for storage.

Surgical Black Arkansas is one of the finest grades of abrasives available today. Most commonly used for industrial applications where an extremely fine polish is required. They are also used among woodcrafters and a variety of industries including the dental industry. The stones are blue-black or black in color. All stones are 2" wide x 1" thick, which provides an elevated work surface for ease of use, and come with a custom wooden box for storage.
